About WattGlance

Why it exists, how it is built, and who is behind it.

Why WattGlance exists

WattGlance started as a personal project to make my own household energy data easier to understand.

I use EDF Energy for electricity, with an EV and home charger, and wanted a clearer long-term view of usage, charging, costs and billing than I was getting day to day from the supplier app.

I later added my Octopus Energy gas account. That naturally led to bringing electricity, gas, EV charging, transactions and billing together in one place, including homes that use different supported suppliers for each fuel.

What WattGlance is

WattGlance is an independent energy-data app designed to make the information your suppliers already hold easier to explore and understand over time.

It currently supports EDF Energy and Octopus Energy, including using both suppliers in the same WattGlance account.

WattGlance is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or part of either supplier. Your supplier account and bill remain the authoritative source for charges and contractual information.

Built with AI-assisted development

WattGlance has been built with the help of modern AI-assisted development tools. I use AI to help explore ideas, write and review code, investigate problems, improve wording and speed up repetitive development work.

AI does not decide what gets released. Product decisions, data behaviour and the final implementation remain my responsibility, and changes are reviewed and tested before release.

The app itself also has optional AI-powered features where clearly identified, but building WattGlance with AI assistance is separate from how your account data is handled inside the product.

About me

I'm Irshad, a Project Manager / Business Analyst by background with a long-standing interest in technology and in making complicated information easier to understand.

What started as something useful for my own household has gradually become something I think could be useful to other people too. The Beta is about testing that with real users and improving it from their feedback.
